Srinagar is the nearest town to Lake Dal.  Since our visit in 1987 it has been the site of fighting and terrorism.
There was regular fighting between Indian and Pakistani troops on a nearby glacier as there has been no agreement on the final border.

These images were digitised from 3R prints of photos taken on a trip in October 1987.
